On the 21st of March 2013 Fjärin is ready with their second album “Mixtur”. Fjärin normally consists of the two Danish musicians Søren Stensby (violin) and Kasper Ejlerskov Leonhardt (guitar), and the Swedish/Estonian bass player Johannes Vaht but on this album they are featured by three exciting musician. On accordion and flute Rune Cygan Barslund, who normally plays in the band Kasír. On the Piano it is Oscar Johansson, who normally plays jazz in Copenhagen. Last but not least, the Norwegian singer Mia Marlen Berg, who last year won a Danish Music Award with the group IKI for best vocal jazz release 2011.
All the compositions on this album is new material and Fjärin believes under no cir-cumstances has folk music stagnated in old traditions, but can and will renew itself and be mixed with other genres. "Mixtur" is proof of this!
Violist Søren Stensby explains the title of the album: ”’Mixtur’ means mixture in Danish. The album is a mixture of all the music which has inspired us though the years.”
With this release Fjärin will make it clear that they innovative. Mixtur is a must have your folk music collection…
